Consultancy and Design

With the ever changing and developing technologies available today, consultants and designers are playing a more important role then ever in assisting and advising clients on the most suitable solution for their needs.

We are able to work with clients on a number of different levels which may range from providing formal consultancy and tender document preparation and analysis to working with the users to develop an AV strategy and assist in identifying the key requirements and then recommend suitable solutions. In all cases, one of the most important aspects of our consultancy service is ensuring that a cost effective solution is reached.

Unlike other systems consultants our sole concern is to recommend the best and most suitable equipment and facilities to meet the brief. We are not in the business of designing over-specified, highly complex solutions where a projector, projection screen and user friendly controller would surfice. Similarly, if enhancements to a proposed solution are required for operational or technical reasons then these will be strongly recommended.

Project Management

Far too often AV and Presentation system projects fail to deliver the solution that the client expected. How often can you remember having that "oh so familiar" conversation by the coffee machine or in the smokers lounge - "the projects running late, the contractor(s) appear to have given up, it's Sunday night and the systems still not working and the budget has already been blown out of the water".

In our experience, all of these problems are easily solved by some simple but effective management expertise. It is not unusual for a project to be run by installation engineers with little or no knowledge of project management - communication and decision making when things go wrong are all too often lacking and haphazard.

At PresComm, we take project management seriously - paying lip service to the essential elements of PM will inevitably cause problems and ultimately is likely to result in a far from satisfactory solution. Our project managers operate under strict guidelines and procedures to ensure that the project runs smoothly. Effective communication and decision making are key to our success. Some of the main aspects and procedures for successful project management are:

  • Agreement of clear objectives and operational parameters
  • Project planning
  • Regular meetings
  • Works schedules and assessment of accelerations required.
  • Progress monitoring and reporting
  • Managing the client/contractor relationship

Installation and Commissioning

PresComm are proud to employ some of the best installation and commissioning engineers in the South of England. Most are qualified to AVA standards for wiring and engineering and all undertake tasks in accordance with our rigorous wiring and installation procedures. Quality of workmanship, accuracy of engineering and attention to detail are key aspects to the success of our projects.

Once the system design and operational specifications are agreed, the work of building and wiring the equipment cabinets, preparing the system components and programming the control equipment begins.

All of the off site works are undertaken at our purpose built state of the art engineering workshop based in Chertsey. Once the systems are built and connected each item is tested for both operational stability and control integration, commissioning and test sheets are completed to record progress and are eventually approved by the senior commissioning engineer.

Installation works at the client premises are undertaken in accordance with our contractural requirements and best practice is used throughout. A site specific method statement is produced and risk assessments are made prior to works commencing in order to comply with our obligations contained within the CDE regulations (as amended). Site staff also attend a simple induction seminar held on site prior to any installation works being undertaken.

Works are undertaken to agreed schedules and are completed within agreed timescales (subject to completion of other works outside of our control). Sufficient time is allowed to test and commissioning procedures to be undertaken and these are again recorded for future analysis.

PresComm are committed to ensuring that all works are undertaken to the highest standards of workmanship, attention to detail is paramount and all our completed installation projects are inspected prior to handover to ensure that these high standards are met.

Support and Maintenance

The projects complete, all systems are working as expected, the handover went well and the client is happy. The party is over and it's back to the business of getting more business - not quite!

At PresComm we believe that our work and relationship with the client has just begun, not ended. After sales support and maintenance services are an integral part of our contract with the client. It is important to remember that with any system of this nature a degree of client "hand holding" will be necessary in the first few months of use, to raise awareness and increase user confidence. Often, subtle modification and changes may be necessary to tailor the presentation system to the exact requirements of the client.
